Branding is important. Board games are important.

I’m part of a group of volunteers who run a board game day in Lancaster each year to raise money for Prostate Cancer, over the last 10 years we’ve raised over 10K.

The only guidelines I was given were to use the Prostate Cancer blue. This project allowed me to combine my love of board games with my design skillset to create a cohesive brand and messaging for sharing the event via social media.

Replicating the Prostate cancer logo which contains a man outline with many smaller images of men undertaking work was the inspiration behind this concept.

‘Meeples’ (the words “my” and “people” were combined to form the word meeple) are very well known in the gaming community, from games such as Carcassonne to Everdell using them.

Using the outline of a ‘Meeple’ and filling the shape with many board game components is what makes this an accessible logo for all in the gaming community. With many commenting on trying to guess the pieces/games used – can you name any?
